What are the Differences Between Prepaid Cards & Uses

Most people know that prepaid cards are incredibly popular for various types of reward programs and more. However, you may not be aware of all the different prepaid card types and uses. Most cards either fall into Open Loop Cards or Closed Loop Cards. Open Loop Cards can be used nearly anywhere. Closed Loop Cards have restrictions on their uses. Here are some of the most popular prepaid cards. General Purpose Reloadable, or GPR, prepaid cards are the most flexible prepaid card types. It is common to be able to load funds from multiple sources. The cardholder owns the funds and can use them with very few restrictions on how the money can be spent. These cards can also be either digital or physical. General purpose reloadable cards are ideal gifts because they offer recipients the freedom to purchase what they want and reload the card, if necessary. Prepaid gift cards are the prepaid card types that you see on the hooks at various convenience stores. These cards are not reloadable and typically do not have access to cash. They may also have inactivity fees, which help close out the cards as the funds do not expire. These cards rarely […]

Things to Consider When Setting Up A Prepaid Card Program

Prepaid reward cards have become a versatile and effective tool in the realm of incentives. Whether you are looking to engage customers or boost employee morale, prepaid card programs offer a meaningful token of appreciation. In this blog, we will analyze the ins and outs of setting up prepaid rewards cards, exploring their advantages and considerations. Furthermore, we will focus on the potential they hold for employee and customer rewards. Prepaid Reward Card Basics Prepaid reward cards are a lot like debit cards since they come preloaded with a specific monetary value. They add a level of personalization to the reward program because the recipient can use the card for anything. Additionally, these cards can be branded for each business, allowing for customization, and can be easily distributed, whether it’s physically or digitally. Flexibility and Appeal One of the main advantages of prepaid reward cards is their flexibility. White Paper: The Secret To The Right Rewards

An effective rewards program benefits both recipients and the sponsoring organization. When participants get recognized for targeted behavioral outcomes, they have an increase in interest, satisfaction, and involvement in organizational activities. As a result, the organization experiences greater outcomes, efficiency, and an increase in revenue and productivity.  According to one popular theory of human motivation, actions often are inspired by a desire to gain outside reinforcement. In other words, human beings are programmed to perform when they know they will be rewarded or recognized for their actions. This motivation theory suggests an eagerness for the addition of a reward and that it may not only be wanted but needed to motivate behavior. Rewards have a range of uses. They can be good for recognizing people who have stopped performing specific actions, as can be seen in health programs that reward activities like smoking cessation. More importantly, rewards are used to reinforce desirable behaviors, such as increases in sales, engaging in healthy living, performance improvements, and more.  The more importance an individual put on the reward offered, the more influential it becomes in changing their behavior. An extensive offering of rewards increases your chances of building better behavioral outcomes for audiences […]

Alternatives to Travel Incentives and Experiential Rewards

Experiential rewards have been one of the most desirable rewards among incentive program participants. Everyone loves winning a free vacation or tickets to a concert. However, with Covid-19 still making travel difficult or unappealing for most people, incentive program managers are looking for alternative ways to entice their participants. These can result in some creative things, like paying celebrities to appear in a work Zoom call for some team motivation. Still, there are many other options out there to maintain your incentive program’s engagement levels. Here are some possible alternatives to travel-based experiential rewards for your incentive programs. Fortunately, the pandemic has not dampened people’s fondness for gift cards and other cash equivalents. With a gift card, particularly one for a brand that offers online shopping, participants can enjoy their reward from the comfort of their home and pick something perfect for themselves. Also, if you go with a virtual gift card instead of a physical one, participants can be rewarded immediately, giving them that sweet feeling of instant gratification. The same goes for prepaid cards, which can also come in a virtual or physical form with your company’s custom branding.  For internal programs, such as employee recognition programs or […]

What 2020 Has Taught Us About Incentives

The  Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) recently released a study on employees’ reward and recognition preferences. This study included around 1500 full-time employees from various backgrounds and demographics. The respondents were given 24 different reward options to rank according to preference. The biggest takeaway from this? When it comes to rewards and incentives, one size does not fit all. For ongoing rewards programs, Gift cards were the top-rated tangible incentive selected by survey participants. For annual rewards, high-value merchandise was popular, along with travel/experiential rewards. However, despite the fact that over 50% of respondents placed all-expense-paid experiences as a reward preference, only 3% of them reported receiving that sort of reward. Rewards programs employed effectively show clear benefits. Employees who felt satisfied with their company’s rewards and recognition efforts reported the following: Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, only 16% of survey respondents indicated their reward and recognition preferences had changed. The 16% showed an increase in interest in monetary rewards, such as gift cards or prepaid cards. The most common reason was because of either an increase or a decrease in work hours. Surprisingly, the interest in travel rewards was not significantly decreased among respondents.  Cash-based rewards should be integrated into incentive programs, whether […]

Use This Engagement Strategy To Build A Thriving Market Research Panel

Everyone’s heard cash is king. Who doesn’t want free money? Market research panel programs tend to choose cash-based rewards for their panelists for this very reason. However, if you want higher recruitment, engagement, and retention, cash-based incentives may not be your best choice. Cash-based rewards programs require the panelist to complete a task, then the user is rewarded with a cash or cash equivalent reward, such as a visa prepaid card, check, or PayPal deposit. Between the costs of inventory, distribution, and fulfillment, cash-based rewards can be pricy. Checks cost admin time and effort, plastic prepaid cards are expensive, and virtual prepaid cards have admin costs and inventory to manage, despite their lower cost. One strategy that consistently proves effective in lowering program costs and increasing engagement and retention is switching to a points-based incentive program with a mix of cash, prepaid debit cards, merchandise, and experiential rewards. A points-based, blended-incentive reward program offers points or reward value to the panelist that they can spend in a marketplace to select a variety of different rewards, specifically chosen to cater to your program’s demographics. Merchandise and other marketplace incentives typically have a lower cost than cash-based rewards. For example, with the […]
