Top Employee Health and Wellness Trends 2020-2021

Health and wellness is more important to people than ever before and companies are taking notice. A recent report from Shortlister reviewed the top employee wellness trends for the last few years. The categories they reviewed include:

• Prioritizing wellness/well-being as a business objective
• Implementing a wellness program via a third-party vendor
• Implementing Point Solutions
• Post-Pandemic Employee Wellness Investment Trends

The majority of businesses surveyed said that wellness is one of their business objectives. In 2020, 97% of businesses surveyed said wellness prioritization is an equal or greater priority to them than the year before. 

31% of businesses surveyed said that they were prioritizing Implementing a wellness program via a third-party vendor more in 2020 than in 2019. 

51% of companies surveyed showed a greater interest in implementing points-based wellness programs.

Follow the issues presented by the pandemic, many companies have changed their prioritization of various wellness issues. Here is a breakdown of those changes for 2021:

• 96% are more Interest in Behavioral Health than the previous year
• 22% are more Interest in Biometric Screenings than the previous year
• 74% are more Interest in Caregiving / Senior Support than the previous year
• 84% are more Interest in Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) than the previous year
• 55% are more Interest in Diabetes Management than the previous year
• 91% are more Interest in Telehealth than the previous year
• 80% are more Interest in Financial Wellness than the previous year
• 32% are incorporating diversity, equity, & inclusion objectives into their wellness strategy.
